An Open Letter to all members of the Drum Corps Community
As you have probably heard , The Kingsmen Winter Guard is starting rehearsals for the 2009 season. Very shortly, you can expect a media release regarding the Kingsmen Drumline and plans to compete in winter 2009. These are the first two steps in the launch of a new Kingsmen Corps.
Thanks to some intense work completed by the Kingsmen Starcorps Board of Directors, you will also be hearing of a major fundraising campaign intended to finance the first competitive Kingsmen Jr. Corps in over 20 years. Scheduled to start rehearsals in 2009 for the 2010 competitive season, the new Kingsmen Corps will be built on the same values that represent the Kingsmen tradition - class, bearing, precision, dedication and respect.
Many new drum corps' are conceived every year, yet few make it to the field of competition. In order to give a new generation of Kingsmen the opportunity to learn, perform and succeed, we must come together behind this goal - whether its volunteering time as part of the support staff, providing a financial gift or providing encouragement through the online conversations or applause at the performance.
The Kingsmen are very much a part of the history of the drum corps activity. As the first DCI Champion and holders of numerous other titles, The Kingsmen are not new to this arena. Further, the Kingsmen Winter Guards of the 1990s achieved finalist status five times. Many members of the Kingsmen now reside in the DCI Hall of Fame, including the founding director of the Kingsmen Ð Mr. Don Porter, Sr.
Join us! Make the gift or become one of the charter members of our booster club - the "Friends of the Kingsmen." You can be part of the hottest new corps to hit the field in years!
Spectemur Agendo,
Dr. Tim Benge |
